GROWING THROUGH PRAYER (A 'LOVING GOD GREATLY' BIBLE STUDY)
February 10,
2016
Week 5 ~ Day 3
Read: Colossians 1:3-12
SOAP: Colossians 1:3-4
S:
“We give thanks to YHVH the Father of
our Adonai Yeshua the Messiah, praying always for you, having heard of your
faith in Messiah Yeshua, and of the love which you have toward all the holy
ones,”
O&A:
In verse 3, they are giving thanks to
Abba YHVH, and praying for them; then in verse 4, they’ve heard of the faith in
Yeshua our Messiah, and of the love that they have in the saints, or the holy
ones.
What is really standing out to me
today is “having heard of your faith in Messiah Yeshua”. Our faith isn’t something to hide under a
bushel (no!), but we are to be known by our Messiah, and by our faith in YHVH.
We are not to be known for our
own glory, like “hey, check me out
and see how holy I am!” but to declare the glory of our King of Glory!
P:
Abba, let me be known by Messiah,
because I fail daily! Sometimes I’m
worried about sharing You with people because of how they may or may not take
it. Your word says that if they reject
what we say, it’s not because they’re rejecting the one giving the word, but
they’re rejecting Messiah! They’re
rejecting YHVH! Maybe I’m worried that
they will reject You, Abba!!! Maybe it still
feels like a rejection because You are part of me. Abba, make me bold for You, instead of
fretting needlessly.
Abba, I lift up those who are putting
their lives on the line for You, those who are out in mission fields, be it far
or near, even in our own front yard, in our own towns and cities. I lift up in prayer those who are being
persecuted for Your name’s sake!
Encourage them in and by Your word, Abba.
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, For
theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven. Blessed
are those who mourn, For they shall be comforted. Blessed are the gentle, For they shall
inherit the eretz. Blessed are those who
hunger and thirst after righteousness, For they shall be filled. Blessed are the merciful, For they shall
obtain mercy. Blessed are the pure in
heart, For they shall see God. Blessed
are the peacemakers, For they shall be called sons of God. Blessed are those who have been persecuted
for righteousness' sake, For theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven. Blessed are you when people reproach you,
persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceedingly glad, for great
is your reward in heaven. For that is how they persecuted the prophets who were
before you.”
In Yeshua’s name, Amein.
